    01
    Clinical depth

20+ parameters. The complete clinical picture.

    20+Parameters
    4Motility classifications

Volume, concentration, morphology, velocity, and advanced markers such as vitality, plus a full motility breakdown:

Rapidly progressive Slowly progressive Non-progressive Immotile

Plus derived functional metrics, including functional sperm concentration, a derived value estimating the concentration of progressively motile sperm with normal morphology, a parameter that standard semen analyses may not report.

    04
    Sample integrity

Built to protect the sample, not correct for it.

At ambient or room temperature, semen parameters can change during transit, including motility and morphology, and uncontrolled conditions may increase degradation risk. Some at-home tests rely on mathematical correction models to account for these changes after the fact.

    34 hrsActive Cooling
    <15°C Temperature maintained

Active Cooling and proprietary semen preservative are validated to maintain the specimen below 15°C for up to 34 hours, helping preserve sample integrity before analysis.

    02
    Advanced - DNA Fragmentation

A more complete at-home semen analysis

A normal result isn't always a complete one. Some couples start with Advanced from the beginning.

Others arrive here after a normal result that leaves questions unanswered. Either way, DNA fragmentation and vitality testing add a dimension our Comprehensive semen analysis doesn't include.

Up to 20% Of men with unexplained infertility may have elevated DNA fragmentation

DNA fragmentation testing evaluates damage to sperm's genetic material, giving couples and physicians context when other results appear normal but questions remain. Most often considered for:

Conception difficulties Recurrent pregnancy loss Unexplained infertility
Mate Health Advanced Semen Analysis includes DNA fragmentation testing, vitality assessment, and sperm microscopy images for physician review.

Mate Health — Why Section Preview
    The Why

Fertility is a couple's health issue. It starts with a complete picture.

Male factors contribute to roughly half of all infertility cases, yet they are often evaluated later in the process. Mate Health is built on a simple premise: at-home semen analysis makes male fertility testing easier to complete earlier, giving couples a clearer understanding of semen parameters and sperm quality.

    01The Scope
    1 in 6

    People affected by infertility worldwide

Infertility is one of the most common health challenges couples face, yet the male partner's contribution is frequently overlooked early in the fertility journey. A complete picture starts with evaluating both partners simultaneously.

Fertility is not a female health issue. It is a couple's health issue.
    02The Evaluation Gap
    50%

Of infertility cases involve male factors, often evaluated last

Despite contributing to half of all infertility cases, male fertility testing is routinely delayed or skipped entirely. Months of treatment directed at the female partner can pass before semen analysis or a formal male evaluation is completed.

Delaying male evaluation delays diagnosis, proper treatment, and time to pregnancy.
    03The DNA Gap
    Up to 20%

Of men with unexplained infertility and a normal semen analysis may have elevated DNA fragmentation

A normal result does not always mean a complete one. Standard semen analysis does not measure DNA fragmentation, damage to the genetic material carried by sperm that may affect conception and pregnancy outcomes.

A normal result is not always a complete one.
    04The Monitoring Opportunity
    72–90

Days for sperm production and maturation

Lifestyle changes, targeted nutrition, and clinical interventions can produce measurable changes within a single sperm production cycle. At-home semen analysis makes it easier to test and retest at meaningful intervals, giving couples real data before making fertility treatment decisions.

One test is a snapshot. Retesting tells the story.
Mate Health tracks what changes between tests, so couples can see whether semen parameters are changing over time.

    GUIDELINE PERSPECTIVE

    Evaluate both partners
    from the start.

Leading medical guidelines from the American Urological Association (AUA) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommend that both partners undergo concurrent assessment at the initial infertility evaluation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor to order a Mate Health test?

No. A doctor’s referral is not required to order a Mate Health kit.

Many patients are referred by OB/GYNs, urologists, fertility clinics, and men’s health providers, but patients may also order directly. If you would like your results sent to your physician, you can provide your provider’s information when registering your kit.

What makes Mate Health different from basic at-home sperm tests?

Most basic at-home sperm tests report a limited set of semen parameters. Mate Health reports 20+ measured and calculated semen health parameters through a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited high-complexity andrology laboratory using WHO 6th Edition methodology.

Specimens are transported using Active Cooling and a proprietary semen preservative, analytically validated across 222 live semen samples. Results are delivered through the secure Mate Health portal with MateIQ and formatted for physician review.

How does Mate Health preserve the specimen during shipping?

Motility and other semen parameters can begin to change after collection. Temperature fluctuation, transit time, and handling conditions can affect semen measurements before laboratory analysis.

Mate Health uses Active Cooling and a proprietary semen preservative to maintain controlled cooled conditions during overnight shipment. Our transportation kit was analytically validated across 222 live semen samples, demonstrating strong agreement across evaluated parameters when tested in the lab

How quickly will I receive results?

Results are typically available within 24 hours of laboratory receipt.

You will receive an email when your results are ready in the secure Mate Health portal. If you entered your provider’s information during registration, your provider can receive the report as well.

Is Mate Health a replacement for seeing a doctor?

No. Mate Health provides laboratory results and educational context. It does not diagnose infertility, determine whether you can or cannot conceive, or replace medical evaluation.

Semen analysis is one part of a fertility evaluation. Results should be reviewed with a licensed healthcare provider.

Should men using GLP-1 medications get a semen analysis?

Men using GLP-1 medications while trying to conceive may benefit from baseline and follow-up semen analysis as part of physician-guided care.
GLP-1 medications can affect weight and metabolic health, and both may be relevant to reproductive health in some men. However, Mate Health does not claim that GLP-1 medications improve sperm health or fertility. A semen analysis can provide objective information about semen parameters, such as sperm concentration, motility, morphology, and other reported values, but results should be interpreted in context with a physician, reproductive urologist, OB/GYN, REI, or fertility clinic.
Because sperm development takes time, follow-up testing is often more useful when performed on a biologically realistic timeline, commonly around three months after a meaningful health, medication, or weight change.
